Actions for complying with WEEE / Practical Actions for compliance

Practical Actions for compliance

1. Define your status. Are you a producer?

2.

If you are a producer, register with the relevant agencies.

3.

Have you put the required 'financial guarantees' into place?

4.

Are you joining a compliance scheme?

5.

List each of your products and identify which categories they fall into.

6. Identify the quantities and weights of units sold in your own country each year.

7.

Identify the number of units imported each year and their destinations.

8.

Complete the WEEE checklist to provide a rough estimate of your obligation. It is likely that obligations will be calculated by means of a protocol yet to be determined.

9.

Identify which of your current and historic products contain components or materials that are likely to require pre-treatment as defined in the Annex II of the WEEE Directive.

10.

Ensure you have information available on collection and return systems, recycling and disassembly guidance and on other requirements.

11. Ensure all products carry the relevant brand, date and disposal labels.
